The organization I selected for this assignment was Columbia University Hospital. The reason I chose this organization for the purpose is that Columbia University Hospital is the number one top ranked teaching hospital in NYC. Also, Columbia University is one of the world''s most important centers of research and at the same time a distinctive and distinguished learning environment for undergraduates and graduate students in many scholarly and professional fields. Since, I am in the process of getting my state license to be a Laboratory Technologist I am currently working with my mentor Doreen Humbert- division administrator for Anatomic Pathology and Cell Biology. On this volunteer experience I will be shadowing Doreen in her every day daily routine function and overseeing her role as a Technologist and as a leader and her everyday function entails:

· Analyze body fluids, such as blood, urine, and tissue samples, and record normal or abnormal findings
· Study blood samples for use in transfusions by identifying the number of cells, the cell morphology or the blood group, blood type, and compatibility with other blood types
· Operate sophisticated laboratory equipment, such as microscopes and cell counters
· Use automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing many tests at the same time
· Log data from medical tests and enter results into a patient's medical record
· Discuss results and findings of laboratory tests and procedures with physicians
· Supervise or train medical laboratory technicians

This meeting is tied to my leadership solely for the reason being that I am looking to continuously mold, shape and use other forms of leadership skills and learning process. I am also using this opportunity to learn from educational resources and real-life experience to better my leadership skills which will help me learn my strengths, weaknesses and other areas I may need to work on. What can you use immediately, and what strategies will you have to work on? I will try to assess all the useful and relevant learning that would help me in my future to become an authentic leader. The biggest strategy that I must work on is to ensure that my leadership process is effective and flawless that would help to guide my followers, subordinates, and team members. The next strategy that I have to work on is finding out efficient ways of solving any issues in any given situation which would allow me to easily tackle any problem as a leader (Lyubovnikova et al., 2017).
