Explain how the photoelectric effect contradicted the idea that light is a pure wave such as sound or water waves and how it supported the idea that light comes in particle like bundles of energy, called photons, with some wave like characteristics. As a starting point, consider to what the transmitted energy is proportionate in classical waves (i.e. which property of the wave is it that makes the difference between getting gently rocked and being thrown off your feet when at the beach).
