Question 1. Submit a one page paper on "The Grim Sleeper Serial Killer Case", a title page, a separate reference page, and contains cited and referenced facts about the topic.The essence of this assignment is to address the issues, legal considerations, and concepts that arise from initial investigation through adjudication of the "The Grim Sleeper Serial Killer Case". Please incorporate all aspects of the criminal justice system from investigation, to arrest, evidence, court proceedings, and eventually sentencing.

This assignment is not just reporting case facts. Do not just report the case. This assignment is looking for you to take the case and explain to the reader how the system works and the legal burdens needed to move a case along.

Use the case to explain how the CJ system works and the legal requirements to move a case along. Use the case facts to illustrate to the reader the concepts. For example, the police investigate a report of a crime. They need to find the elements of the crime and then establish probable cause. You must explain the role of the police, the crime (give the elements) and then what was the probable cause (but you must define probable cause).

Do the same for the prosecution and define and explain why they have the burden of proof. What is the role of the defense attorney and how do they protect a client and ensure the rights of the defendant are ensured. What is reasonable doubt and how did they attempt to introduce it. Role of the jury and standard needed to convict. Do the same for the major actors in the CJ system. Do not forget corrections and what their role is in the case you choose.

This assignment is looking for you to take the case and explain to the reader how the system works and the legal burdens needed to move a case along.

Question 2. You also must do an annotated bibliography as a separate paper.

Submit an annotated bibliography upon which the paper above is to be based. This will act as the foundation of a research and guide for the paper. Annotated bibliographies also gather the reference materials and help summarize the articles, books, etc. that will be using in the case analysis.

Submit an annotated bibliography with at least seven (7) valid sources that you will use as the basis for the paper. See the attached sample if you are not familiar with how to write an annotated bibliography.

Submit the papers in one MS Word document in APA format and compose the work in a .doc or .docx file type using a word processor (such as Microsoft Word, etc.). Check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors.
