There is an overwhelming majority of academics and professionals alike who staunchly believe that we are not born with hate in our hearts, but rather we learn how to hate. Racism, bigotry, sexism, etc. are all ideas we have learned from our environment. How?

1. You will select one of the three forms of learning we've discussed in this chapter: classical conditioning, operant conditioning, or observational learning.

2. Explain how that form of learning creates stereotypes and prejudice that can result in hateful behavior, such as discrimination and/or violence.

3. Using the same form of learning, list at least one way to prevent or intervene and change the hateful, learned ideology.
