Problem
Sanderson and Huffman (2020) define personality as "our unique and relatively stable pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions" (p. 386). Personality theories help describe and explain how our personalities develop. Within Chapter 12, several personality theories are described, including biological, psychoanalytic/psychodynamic theories, trait theories, humanistic theories, and social-cognitive theories.
For this writing option, choose two personality theories and use them to explain the personality of Sunny Sideup, a fictional character. In your analysis of Sunny's personality, remember to be specific as you apply how at least two theories explain Sunny's sunny personality. Explain how Sunny came to have such a "sunny" personality. Remember to include at least two concepts from the textbook.
Sunny's story: Sunny Sideup was given her name by her parents, who constantly remark that she lights up their lives. She grew up in an urban setting, had no siblings, attended public schools, and was raised by older parents who doted on her. As a child and adolescent, Sunny was rarely anxious and usually happy. She quickly made friends. Although, like everyone, Sunny has experienced setbacks and challenges, she has an optimistic attitude and always says that the best is yet to come. She earned her bachelor's degree in under four years due to the support of her parents and her perseverance and organization. By the age of 28, Sunny published a novel that became a best seller. She is planning to continue writing and is excited about all the possibilities for the future.
