Isoprene is at the basis of a large class of biologically-relevant lipids known as terpenoids or isoprenoids. Isoprene is a five-carbon molecule with a single branch point (2-methyl-1,3-butadiene).
When multiple isoprene units are combined in the metabolic process they may lose their double bonds, but the branching is fairly characteristic of the group.
(a) How many isoprene units were incorporated in the following structure?
Assuming no energy is transferred to or from the surroundings, calculate the final temperature of the water after all the ice melts.
The infrared spectrum of CH3CH2NH2 shows two absorptions not shwon by bromoethane. Identify the bonds responsible for these two absorptions.
Ultra-high-vacuum experiments are routinely performed at a total pressure of 1.0 x 10-10 torr. Calculate the binary number of collisions, Z11, of N2 molecules (per liter per second) at 350 K under these conditions. The collision diameter of N2 is ..

Determine the molality of a solution prepared by dissolving 0.500 moles of CaF2 in 11.5 moles H2O.
How many moles of potassium carbonate will be produced if 476 g of potassium hydrogen carbonate are heated
Account for the fact that H3C-Cl (dipole moment 1.94D) and H3C-F (dipole moment 1.82D) have almost identical dipole moments, even though fluorine is considerably more electronegative than chlorine.
