Problem

Health Promotion Programs are dynamic processes planned and organized with the intent to address the health needs of a priority population. Health educators are charged with understanding a priority population's individual needs and how the Social Determinants of Health ([SDOH] such as their cultural, social, ethnic, economic, political, and religious backgrounds) interact with their health needs and outcomes. Therefore, health educators must become and remain aware of these forces and choose their planned actions carefully.

Describe the connection between effective health promotion efforts on the state and National levels and considerations for priority populations through the lens of the SDOH. Specifically, explain how health promotion planning reflects the individual needs of a priority population and their political, social, ethnic, economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Reference the SDOH in your response, paying close attention to how the Healthy People 2030 initiative set the standard for this type of planning and implementation.
