Topic : The legislative gerrymander

1. Explain how gerrymandering currently works in the U.S. For example, explain how cracking and packing work. And, explain who draws the legislative maps in most states and why. Also, explain the effects that these tactics have on our democratic process when it comes to electing legislators.

2. While both political parties have engaged in gerrymandering, one party currently does the most gerrymandering of legislative maps. Which party, and why has this party recently done so much more gerrymandering of legislative maps than the other party?

3. The Supreme Court has declared that political gerrymandering does not violate the constitution or current law. Explain whether in favor or disagree with the Supreme Court's decision in the matter of political gerrymandering.

Must be able to explain the Supreme Court decision, know the difference between political gerrymandering and other types of gerrymandering, and, to some extent at least, explain the effects that this decision has had on our democracy, before adequately explaining why yes or no for gerrymandering.
