Digital Transformation

Assessment Aim: The aim of this reflective report is to write 2000 words about the selected start-up company or a company of their own choice project and your role play in the project (Individual). The role of reflective statement submission is to engage students for browsing the extant and modern literature readings which revolves around subject developments in the recent era. It also refine students' ability to understand the key issues related to subject, demonstrate the understanding of high-level of appropriate concepts, and comprehensive and critical analysis of central issues in the current age.

What is expected in the Assessment: Students are required to perform a role-play with in a group for a start-up company or a company of their own choice. Students are required to develop an executive summary or a digital transformation plan based on the following:

1. Mission, vision and/or the introduction of the organisation.
Briefly state the mission, vision and/or strategic objectives of the start-up company or the company of your own choice for which you are developing this DT plan/executive summary.

2. Problem at the existing company or why there is a need of developing a start-up?

3. How the system at Start-up Company or the company of your own choice operates at the operational, tactical and strategic levels and what are its strategic objectives. Operational - the day to day processes of the system

Tactical - how does the system assist tactical managers in, for example, allocating budgets, allocating and managing staff, communicating with stakeholders, staffing levels, assessing effectiveness of operations at the middle management level, etc.?

Strategic - what information may be collated for use by organisational executives in strategic decision making (e.g. profit/cost, staff issues, budgets, etc.?

4. Important Stakeholders involved in the system, how they use the system and how the system is related to their roles.

5. Competitive advantage and how the system may be related to helping the organisation gain or maintain strategic advantage based on the digital transformation strategy for future.

6. Consideration of those things which have disrupted the system to achieve either its purpose, the organisational digital strategy or competitive advantage.

7. Identification of a gap or gaps in how well the system will works after the transformation.

8. If relevant, explain how any gaps you may have identified in the system could be addressed in the future.

9. What digital technology devices are currently used for the system and whether there are any issues with these?

10. What emerging digital technologies could be incorporated to improve the system and how? Secondly, with the implemented digital transformation what the company will achieve?

11. How could interactions/integrations with any other systems in the organisation become more efficient/effective at any (or all) of the operational, tactical and strategic levels.

Important Note about the Reflective Report:

Number of students in a group will be decided once the final number of students is communicated with the teacher/module coordinator.

Briefly explain the theoretical perspectives you have considered for the reflective report and ensure that you include the references

The reflective report is individual and will only be based on one role-play.

The roles could be CEO, CIO, Digital Strategist, Operational Manager, Marketing Expert or any other based on the nature of business.
