Le Chatelier's principle describes the way that a reaction at equilibrium will respond if that equilibrium is somehow disturbed. Imagine that you have a reversible reaction you want to perform that produces a very valuable product but the equilibrium constant for the process is very low. Using the 3 definitions of equilibrium presented in lecture as your framework, explain in no more than 1 paragraph how the yield of reaction can be greatly increased (meaning reactants are more extensively converted into products) by applying Le Chatliers principle. The 3 definitions we learned in lecture:
1. rate of forward reaction= rate of reverse reaction
2. no observable change in [reactants] or [products]
3. no change in energy
In your laboratory you're studying a chemical reaction that follows the general rate law: rate = k[A]. Initial experiments show a rate of 0.001412 M/s when [A] = 0.519 M at 299 K.
Provide a stepwise mechanism for the reaction, showing all electron movement using the curved arrow convention. Sketch a qualitative energy level diagram for the mechanism labeling all relevant points.

What is the pH of a solution that is prepared by dissolving 9.81 grams of acetic acid (60.05 g/mol) and 8.68 grams of sodium acetate (82.03 g/mol) in water and diluting to 800 mL.
A quantity of 6.0 moles of an ideal gas is reversibly heated at constant volume from 17 C to 35 C. Calculate the entropy change.
What mass of C4H6 in grams is consumed in the reaction below when 39.8 grams O2 (g) are also consumed? C4H6 (g) + O2 (g) ' CO2 (g) + H2O (g) (not balanced)
Present-day carbon (in living matter) gives 15.3 disintegrations per minutes per gram of total carbon. Determine the date of the volcanic eruption. Recall that the half-life of carbon-14 is 5730 y.
the boyle temperature is the temperature at which the coefficient b is zero. Therefore, a real gas behaves like an ideal gas at this temperature. (a) Give a physical interpretation of this behavior.
