Whenever batches of material are produced and then split into smaller units, a split-plot type of design often occurs. A CRD design would require 36 different batches of pulp produced and the entire batch of pulp would be cooked at one temperature level. Note that if only a single batch of pulp was produced under each preparation method and split into 12 sub-batches for the cooking factor, this would be an example of pseudo-replication. Why?
Determine the probability that a randomly selected teacher earns more than $525 per week?
Verify that the fitted values have the same mean as the actual y-values, and that the residuals have mean zero and show that the variance of the fitted values plus the variance of the residuals adds up to the variance of y. Find the R-squared.
Determine her weighted mean grade? What letter grade did she earn? (A, B, C, D or F).
Use this information to find the upper and lower limits of the first class if you wish to construct a frequency distribution with 10 classes.
Extreme value or is it a fairly typical sample mean? For a sample of n=36 scores, would a sample mean of M=55 be considered an extreme value or is it is fairly typical sample mean?
In each of the following situations, the sampling frame does not match the population, resulting in undercoverage. Give examples of population members that might have been omitted:
Make a plot of the residuals and comment on whether they appear to follow a normal distribution. Plot the residuals versus the fitted values. Do they seem to have the same amount of variation?
Let X be the number of calls you need to make until you find your friend. Give the probability mass function for X. How many calls do you expect to make until you find your friend?
Students are the University of New Harmony received 10, 000 course grades last semester. The table below breaks down these grades by which school of the university taught the course.
Define the Linear programming problem (LPP)
Last school year, student body of a local university consisted of 30% freshmen, 24% sophomores, 26% juniors, and 20% seniors. A sample of 300 students taken from this year's student body showed the following number of students in each classificati..
