Assignment: Self-Assessment and a Personal Action Plan

To plan for personal development, you must first assess your readiness for successful consulting roles. Through a reflective process of self-assessment, you will better understand your strengths and weaknesses relevant to consulting. As you learn more about a successful consulting engagement in this course, you will further reflect upon and analyze your readiness.

Complete a self-analysis based on the list of competencies in the appendix to the following journal article:

• Behavioral Competencies, Goal Setting, and OD Practitioner Effectiveness

On the basis of the outcome of your self-assessment, develop a personal action plan. Your personal action plan should:

1. List and explain your skills, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors related to:

a. Contracting
b. Data utilization
c. Intervention
d. Implementation
e. Interpersonal skills
f. Group process management
g. Maintenance of client relations

2. List, describe, and explain barriers and challenges to your readiness for the role of a consultant.

3. Include a detailed plan of action to reinforce and maximize your strengths and overcome weaknesses.

4. Include a discussion of how your plan will affect your work in your current role and as a consultant.

Your final deliverable will be a 3- to 5-page Microsoft Word document. You should utilize two to three scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources.
