The purpose of this discussion is to explain alterations of the cardiovascular system.

Do not submit a list of clinical manifestations. These must be discussed and explained. Consider, for example, how the pathophysiologic processes cause the clinical manifestations and what the clinical significance is to the individual affected.

Question: A 45-year-old patient complains of elevated blood pressure readings at home. Your manual blood pressure reading is 186/103. The patient reports occasional headaches and denies chest pain or shortness of breath. They take three blood pressure medications. Using scientific evidence and provider-level language, explain to the patient the pathophysiology of primary hypertension, its clinical manifestations, and what it might predispose patients. Include the nursing implications.
