Design Project
As an electrical engineer, you are asked to design a low-voltage, high-current, shunt-excited DC motor for an industrial facility. The motor should have the following specifications:
- The output power of the machine is expected to be between (20+XX+YY) hp. Where XX (first student) and YY (second student) are the last two digits of your KFUPM ID number, e.g., 01, 02, 10, 12, 20, ..etc.- The copper losses in the machine should be between 4% and 7% of the output power.- The brush losses in the machine should be between 2% and 5% of the copper losses.- The no load power should not exceed 6% of the output power.- The motor speed is available between 900 and 1200 rpm.- The supply voltage is 240V.- The brush voltage drop is 2V each.- The magnetization curve is linear and given as ? (Wb) =0.025x (A).- The flux per pole should not exceed 25 mWb.- The number of poles is up to 8 poles.- The armature resistance is between (0.05 to 0.12) Ω.
Explain all your design steps and give all the machine parameters and variables in Table I. Assume any missing data in your report.

This report is for the design of a shunt excited DC motor of output power capacity 60 hp and speed range 900 - 1200 rpm. The motor has certain losses like copper loss and brush loss. Copper losses are 5-7% of the output power and the brush losses are 2-5% of the output power. The no-load power of the motor is less than 6% of the output power. The supply voltage of the motor is 240 V and based on all these parameters the shunt excited DC motor is designed. The efficiency obtained of the DC motor is 94.85% and fulfills all the requirements.
I just opened the solution by mobile so i did not see the calculations. Now I am opening the solution by computer and its very good so, Its really very good solution. Will see you soon with my next assignment, please keep free this expert for my next work .....
Important note: 1- The output power is 60 hp. 2- I want the level of solving to be a university student level like last time.
My last project was solved very well by your tutor so please get this assignmnt done by him again.
