Goal:

Your task is to showcase your expertise in the field of career planning.

Role:

You are a Career Counselor who works at a local career center.

Audience:

Your audience is the clients who come to you for advice on planning their future career.

Situation:

You have been asked by the supervisor of the center to make a presentation complete with handouts that clients can take home to aid them in their career hunt. You have decided to gather the center's clients together for an evening of helpful information to make certain that the group understands the career planning process from start to finish.

Product:

Make the presentation detailing the process of obtaining a career that is suited for each client. You will also create a take home (handout) with online resources the clients can use on their own time to continue their research and the process of obtaining a career.

Standards for Success:

Your presentation must include:

• Information on employability skills
• Description of how to complete each section of an employment application
• Description of how to make a cover letter and resume including information on each format and the specific parts of a resume
• Description of how to prepare for a job interview including examples of how to answer interview questions

Your hand out must include:

• At least 10 different websites supporting the career planning process
• Description of each of the websites and how they can be utilized to help the career planning process
