Experiential Activity

The purpose of the experiential activities is to introduce you to specific tools and ideas that you can use along with the theoretical knowledge gained in the course. Each activity will require you to complete an experience. After completing the experience, you will be asked to write and submit a report discussing your findings and to ponder the possible applications of the tools encountered. There is no minimum or maximum page requirement for an experiential assignment. Your goal is to complete each experience and then write about it, according to the directions from each activity. For this activity, you will become aquainted with the market for free word processing software. As you know, your assignment must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. However, there are other word processing tools, many of which are free to use. In this assignment, you will experience writing using three separate tools, other than Microsoft Word. You will then write a report describing your experience and briefly discussing each company's marketing strategy. Your task is to write a short, 2-paragraph letter using the following free text editing software: Google Docs, and two other free word processing tools of your choice. Spend a few minutes online and use your favorite search engine to find some of the competing online word processing tools. Choose two of them. Write a short letter using each one, in addition to the letter you will write in Google Docs. Steps 1. Visit docs.google.com. Use Google Docs to type up a short letter. 2. Research two other free online word processing tools. Use each one to type up a short letter. 3. Write a report with the following required sections: a. Describe briefly the 3 tools you have used b. Summarize briefly your experience with each c. Answer the following questions: if the product is free, how does the company make money? how is each product positioned? (For this section, you may need to review the concept of positioning once more. Be brief in addressing this last question.) 4. Complete all the steps without spending any money (this should be easy, as all the tools are free to use) 6. Submit your report in the course.
