You are an experienced CCRN-certified nurse working in a very small, rural facility with a 6-bed Intensive Care Unit. You report for work one evening to find that the Unit has only one patient and he is expected to expire at any time. He has a DNR order in place and no family. The other nurse scheduled to work this shift with you called out sick only 2 hours ago and management has not replaced her. You have been requested to work the Unit alone.
