Dr. Monty wants to conduct a study to determine if people who are put under greater stress/anxiety will experience a stronger desire to affiliate with others than people who are exposed to less stress/anxiety. She plans to threaten to shock participants, then ask if they want to wait for their shock in a room by themselves or in a room with other participants. In reality, she will not actually shock anyone, but she needs to make them think that they will be shocked in order for the study to work. Explain how the following terms would apply to this example: IRB, informed consent, deception, and debriefing. Be specific and describe how the term applies.
