The exit access and emergency preparedness standards evolved as a result of a number of tragic workplace fires that have occurred during past decades. The National Safety Council (NSC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) did a lot of the early work to develop these standards.

Discuss the extent to which you think the existing OSHA standards related to life safety help to keep workplaces safe.
