This is a Discussion. I need a 200 word response to this statement with one in-texted citation in APA format.

"I believe that anyone working for any company should be able to exercise their first amendment rights, but it should be said for themselves and not on behalf of the company."

What if the owner of the company wants to throw their support behind a specific cause? Or behind a specific political candidate. For example

  • Company Xyz manufactures and sells marijuana products. (A hot topic item)
  • Candidate A supports the sale of marijuana products.
  • Candidate B does not.

Now although the stock holders may not support the sale of marijuana (personally) the companies success is not based on personal beliefs. This isn't a great example as someone who does not support the sale of marijuana would most likely not be a stockholder, but the separation between personal, and business priorities is still clear and relevant.
