Assignment:
Each Module will feature identifications that you will need to know for quizzes and exams. Identifications (IDs) should have a definition (if applicable), what the term concerns, and the significance of the term.
For Example:
Thirteenth Amendment: This is an amendment to the Constitution of the United States. It was enacted after the Civil war and "legally abolished slavery 'except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted.' Section Two of the amendment granted Congress the 'power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.'" The significance of this document and the legislation it enacted was that slavery was abolished which meant that all African-Americans and other indentured servants were no longer considered property.
This affected the labor force, especially in the southern states (those that had rebelled), where many slaves had labored on plantations and farms owned by white people. It did not free enslaved people in states like Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Virginia (American Yawp, Section II, Politics of Reconstruction).
Please do an IDs for the following terms:
- Capital
- Labor
- Social-Darwinism
- Jim Crow
- The Maine
- American Imperialism
This assignment is a reminder for you to find, define, and provide significance for each term listed.
