Assignment:

After reading the document "Ethnographic Interviewing" Culturally Informed Activity, think about being culturally informed when relating to Elena and her family. You may want to read the practice family overview to refresh your memory of the Martinez case again.

Write a one-page reflection; consider the examples of ethnographic interviewing and the four levels of cultural competence: Attitude, Knowledge, Skills, and Reflection. Prepare examples for how cultural competence could be demonstrated at each of the four levels using the Elena Martinez case. You can incorporate some of the principles of ethnographic interviewing. Be creative with your reflection: What would you say to Elena? How would you respond to her? What could you learn from her and her family? What do you think is important to her?
