Pick an active audience to examine its participatory culture.
- Narrow your audience to a specific issue, timeframe [ within 12 months] and platForm. Be as specific as possible! Generic statements (and focus) are your enemy.
- Do background research on your audience or the particular issue that prompted the audience activity in question (provide at least 5 non-academic sources).
- Get familiar with the audience's online activity. Save as many examples of enunciative or "textual" productivity as you can, making sense of the character of the participatory culture. Select at least 5 of these examples for your wriTen analysis.
- Contextualize the audience activity by referencing academic literature relevant to it. Use at least 5 such sources (that aren't required reading for the course) to explain the audience activity you've documented.
- Integrate the background information, examples of audience activity, and academic literature (key concept in the field, especially) in your writing.
- When analyzing the audience's output, ensure you comment to some degree on its affective dimension (atTachment, content, direction, etc).
- Provide a thesis-statement in the introduction explaining the significance of the audience activity you're going to analyze (for the audience, for the industry, for society...)
