In the real world, there really are not that many examples of a true monopoly. Microsoft, amazon, and Walmart are all huge companies that tend to dominate in many markets, but they still face competition. There are obvious advantages to being a monopoly (higher price, greater profits), so there are incentives to trying to monopolize a product. This often happens through trademark or patent protection. Less common is the case of someone trying to "corner the market" for some good. This week, we learn about the rather odd case of the "Onion King." Listen and discuss whatever you find most interesting. (Was what he did immoral? Should it be illegal? Could it happen today?)
