Assignment:

McDonald's is a prime example of successful globalization. The fast-food giant adapted its menu to local tastes, embraced efficient supply chains, and focused on standardized quality. For instance, in countries like India, McDonald's adjusted its offerings to exclude beef and pork, catering to local dietary preferences. This flexibility and aggressive marketing and real estate strategy helped McDonald's become one of the world's most recognized brands. The story highlights that understanding local culture, customizing products, and maintaining core brand values are key benefits of going global.

Failed Example:

Target's expansion into Canada is a cautionary tale. Despite strong brand recognition, the company faced inventory problems, poorly managed supply chains, and an inability to understand Canadian consumer behavior. This led to store closures within two years; the failure underscores the risks of insufficient market research, overconfidence in brand strength, and underestimating logistical challenges when going global.
