What to say and to relate to someone who wrote this: In my opinion, all groups did indeed have motives for participating in the American Revolution. Some's motives were for their gain overall and some, mostly, were just simply for freedom at large. The main motive at large for the American Revolution was freedom. As we all know from the text so far, freedom was a very large issue. Britain thought that they could control whoever and whatever and nothing would happen about it. In doing this, they realized that unfortunately, they were wrong. And a question that we should be truly asking ourselves is what truly caused the American Revolution.
The text writes, "Historians have long argued over the causes and character of the American Revolution. Was the Revolution caused by British imperial policy or by internal tensions within the colonies? " (Locke & Wright 32). The reason for me mentioning this is to reveal how there are always 2 sides to every story but more importantly, history is something that people try to erase and/or alter.
Unfortunately, the American Revolution is something in History that cannot be altered. I think a good thing to note about the American Revolution is the loyalists. The loyalists were the ones that wanted things to remain the way they were. The text writes, "Approximately 60,000 loyalists ended up leaving America because of Revolution" (Locke & Wright 29). So, here we can see another example of an effect from the American Revolution.
