In preparation of our Formalized Rhetoric week, answer the following questions to the group discussion board: 

1. In what ways are you great at arguing/persuading? For example, I'm very good at deescalating someone who is angry--most often, people want to be heard, and that their opinion matters. Even if I think that person is a totally irrational idiot, I'll say, "That sounds so frustrating," and occasionally ask If I can do small things for them--get them a chair, water, etc. Works every time!
2. In what ways do you suck? For example, I'm a college professor. I teach rhetoric, and competitive speech/debate. I haven't lived at home since I was 17, and I'm in my 30's. However--I cannot argue with my parents. (like now, mad at them for not wearing masks and going to BBQs with friends [don't even get me started]). The problem is that I become very emotional and angry, in a way I do not if arguing with a friend, student, coworker, or stranger! I cry m ore often, and make emotional statements I would never make in any other setting. 
3. Give a concrete example of a victorious moment of persuasion, or an utter defeat of argumentation. Include details so we can visualize the scene!
