So keep a few things in mind. First, you want to contrast two nations that you can tell either have some elements of their society, like freedoms of religion, racism, misogynism, political freedoms, etc. Next, think about what those impacts in a way that you can measure and show. The third step will be examining the nation's legitimacy and capacity to actually make any change.

But first - the simple pitch, like an elevator speech. What two countries do you want to contrast, and what about them do you think is different and why? Look at the War on the Rocks submission guidelines and make a good "hook" or "lede" that makes your story compelling.
