By examining fragments of genetic material in the bloodstream that have broken from tumors or circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), researchers may have discovered a way to determine if the patient needs postsurgical chemotherapy. Liquid biopsy is the test that measures the levels of ctDNA in the blood. The study was conducted on patients with colorectal cancer.
