Assessment Overview:
Choose a local or international company producing a fashion or textiles product. Analyse and evaluate the various stages of product development and develop an operations calendar and accompanying report.
Assignment instructions:
Conduct comprehensive research into a local or international company producing a fashion or textiles product. Manufacturing and production may be offshore on onshore. Primary research into a local operator is encouraged. Provide an overview of the company, their product, positioning strategy and relationship to their target customer.
Examine the operational logistics of the company including sourcing and supply, manufacturing and production, quality control and distribution and transport. Examine the operations over a 12 month period, and develop an operations calendar to reflect two seasons of operation. This can take the form of a table or calendar format, with a 1000 word report supporting and interpreting the document.
Demonstrate the theoretical learning of product development supply chains and their management and apply to your chosen company.
This is a formal academic written assessment. As such, it must be structured in an appropriate format that both conveys the topic of discussion and reflects what is being discussed. The assessment should consist of Synopsis ! Introduction Body of discussion / Conclusion / Bibliography 8 Appendices if required. Visual references should be used where relevant and electronic files made as small as possible. Do not include images or graphics for interest only: they must contribute to the discussion and critique of the topic.
