Help with........The Narrative & Effects of the Fall
Through the first two chapters of Genesis, everything is good. The garden is beautiful and peaceful. Adam and Eve are happy and in communion with God. Both humans and animals are safe and cared for. Now, in chapter 3, sin will enter the world with disastrous consequences for all creation, both human and non-human.
Before looking at the theological and practical implications of the fall, it is critical to see what the scriptural account of the temptation, sin, and sin's consequences tell us about this downward turning point in history.
In this discussion, examine the methods that Satan used to tempt Adam and Eve in the Garden along with his methods elsewhere in Scripture.
Describing 2 of Satan's methods that led to the sin of Adam and Eve. Discuss a time you have attempted to ward off Satan's temptations. You may describe items such as Scripture passages, spiritual habits, accountability relationships, or other ways that you can remember.
In addition, choose 1 of the 3 relationships in which alienation took place due to the fall (with God, with other humans, or with the rest of creation).
Sin's Effects: Alienation
- Between God and Humans
- Between Humans and other Humans
- Between Humans and the Created Order
- Sin places barriers in the way of harmonious relationships
Where have you experienced that kind of alienation? Explain how the issue arose and how it was related to the fall. Also, mention how you felt when that alienation happened. If the problem has been resolved, you may share how that happened.
