In a study by Atav, Spencer, and Johnston, exposure to violence was examined among 350 rural, suburban, and urban teens who reside in Upstate New York. Upon a detailed survey of the teens, the data were analyzed by the Kresge Center staff. The researchers concluded that rural teens' exposure to violence was significantly higher than the urban and suburban teens.
