Task: Use the relevant case study (Dylan) to examine a social need/problem in one sector in Australia:
- Homelessness Support
- Family and Domestic Violence
The essay should include the following:
- Introduction (100 word)
- Setting the scene for exploration and examination of the case.
- Choose a case study (Dylan) as an exemplar for an identified specific group (e.g., youth homelessness, male homelessness, women fleeing DV, Partner battering), Discuss this social need, and what socio-economic determinants (i.e., factors that would have contributed to the problem) are relevant to the specific group experiences. Define terms and state the link between individual (micro) and group (meso) needs regarding the problem (500 word).
- You will need to state how your chosen case connects to the specific group and discuss the contributing socio-economic determinants for the problem, drawing on relevant and appropriate scholarly and industry research.
- The presentation should provide clear and concise explanation of the social needs, providing in-depth understanding of the group in focus.
- Explore the relevant historical and current community responses to this problem in the Australian context (500 words)
- Independently locate and analyse information about past and current community responses in the Australian context, including policies, government reports and industrial developments that have aimed to address the social need/problem. Explain the link between the levels (micro and meso) in which the problem occurs and meso/macro levels of solution provision, drawing on current (or most recent) scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles specific to the social need and/or group in focus.
- Recommendations for effectively addressing the social need/problem (300 words)
- Make between two to three recommendations based on your research in the previous two sections. You must be able to show the ability to analyse and synthesis literature and industry evidence to inform your recommendation.
