Assessment details
Overview
This assessment takes the form of case study and requires you to examine the case study and analyse the associated dataset, interpret, draw conclusion(s) and provide recommendation(s) based on your analysis via a report to a business client.
This assessment relates to the professional practice of business and/or data analysts, who perform data visualisations and predictive modelling techniques in response to requests from a business client or internal stakeholder. To complete this assessment task, you are required to demonstrate the ability in performing data pre-processing, visualisations and predictive modelling. You are also required to demonstrate your ability to communicate the outputs of visualisations and predictive analytics and deliver a report that can be used by others to make responsive and evidence-based business decisions.
Assessment criteria
This assessment will measure your ability to:
• Ability to address business problem(s) and objective(s) of the case study (6 points)
• Ability to pre-process data appropriately before the application of analytics techniques (8 points)
Case Study: IntelliAuto
Part 1- Visualisations and Predictive Analytics
To complete this assessment task, you are expected to demonstrate the use of ggplot2 for visualisations and also R scripting for predictive modelling which you have learned so far in this course. You need to evaluate the types of data and perform appropriate data pre-processing on the given dataset. Below are some guidelines for performing your analysis:
1. Job advancement, gender and age group: You should only analyse these variables together and visualise them with appropriate technique(s) using ggplot2.
2. Years of employment: You should start your investigations on the relationships of the appropriate variables and visually check them to identify any potential problems or need for data pre-processing before you build the predictive model(s) using R scripting. You also need to consider how to appropriately evaluate your predictive model(s) - e.g. how is the explanatory power of the model? and so on.
Part 2 - Report
Word Limit: 2000 words (+1- 10%), excluding Table of Content, Appendix, References, figures, tables and R scripts. Note that anything beyond word limit will not be marked.
