Case: A study was completed including 400 kids from Burns Park, a local elementary school in Ann Arbor, who had high (but not dangerous) blood glucose levels. The study was completed over the course of one school year (2018) to study the relationship between exercise and blood glucose (sugar) levels. Out of a total of 300 kids who exercised actively during gym class, 90 lowered their blood glucose levels during the school year. Out of a total of 100 kids who did not take gym class, 17 lowered their blood glucose levels during the school year.
What study design is described in Scenario 2? Why?
What is the best measure of association for the study described in Scenario 2?
Draw a 2x2 table to examine the association between taking gym class (exposed) and developing lower glucose levels (outcome of interest).
Calculate and interpret the best measure of association. Include the who, when, where, and what in your interpretation.
If the children in this study had instead been randomly assigned to having or not having gym class, what type of study design would this be, and what would be the best measure of association
