Problem

Examine several pieces of writing within your discourse community-e.g. syllabi, lab reports, instructions, beauty mag articles, advertisements, brochures, movie trailers or blog postings, etc. Similar to a rhetorical analysis, your task is to describe the texts you've selected as if they were objects by focusing on their appearance or components, instead of what they say. For example, notice the line breaks, lengths of paragraphs and sentences, spacing, font style, use of italics, boldface, bullet points, style of images, organization/structure, and so on. What patterns do you notice?

I need about 1000 words with references in humanities about what the appearance of the piece reveals about the expectations or conventions of the genre and the rhetorical situation.
