Fundamental Concepts of Analysis Project -
For this INDIVIDUAL project you will do a two sample test. You will either examine the proportion of men versus the proportion of women who live off campus, the proportion of men versus the proportion of women who vote Democrat (Republican, other), or the mean number of Facebook friends for men versus women. You will use the data given to you which means your population is current Longwood students. You will write a paper without consulting with any other individual except the instructor and will include:
1. Which question you chose, why this question is interesting, and who might use this data and how. Also H0 and Ha. Make Ha the claim you think will be correct and explain why. Do this BEFORE you look at the data.
2. A random sample from the data and how you got it.
3. Descriptive statistics from the data, including graphs if you think they would be useful, and what they say about your claim
4. A justification of the test you plan to use.
5. The p-value and what that means both in the abstract and to your H0.
6. What your conclusion from 5 means to your original claim.
7. Several confidence intervals and what they tell you.
8. Whether your answer seems reasonable and why.
9. What could have realistically gone wrong and the weaknesses of the procedure.
10. A conclusion that sums up your conclusions with as little statistical jargon as possible and talks a little about what this could be used for.
