Purpose:
To examine media using rhetorical concept.
Directions
Select a text (speech, video, lyrics, movie clip, headline, ad, chat room discussion posting, cartoon, etc.) to answer the following questions. Your answers should explain how and why you came to the conclusions about each answer.
1) Who is the rhetor?
2) Who is the intended audience? Who is the extended audience? How did you draw this conclusion?
3) What is the desired outcome- what is the rhetor trying to accomplish?
4) Did the rhetor use ethos, logos, and pathos? if so, explain how the rhetor used each.
Do the images work together to form a coherent pattern - what ideas or feelings are conveyed by the images the author has selected and how do they contribute to the overall meaning of the poem?
What is the meaning of "Good writing takes place at intersections, at what you might call knots, at places where the society is snarled or knotted up." analysis
What methodologies are used in the study published by LeBlanc and Nguyen (1999)? List them. Identify the procedure that was followed for sample selection as well as the sample size.
