Discussion: Even the best staffing policies and systems can be impacted by employees who leave their jobs for performance or retention reasons; having an effective performance and development plan can help cut down on turnover and focus training on individual competencies and job tasks. For this week's discussion:

1. Examine employee performance programs and assess the components of those programs that can be beneficial to employee engagement and performance.

2. Illustrate two strategies that would improve the performance program. Then, propose a new type of employee performance program that would be specifically tailored to employee engagement (in other words, what would you add to a typical employee performance evaluation to specifically assess/encourage an employee's engagement and performance?).
