History and Scope of Practice
This reading covers several common CAM systems: naturopathy, Western herbalism, Chiropractic, massage therapy, and reflexology. There have been many historical occurrences that have shaped the individual professions, society's perception of the professions, licensure or certification of practitioners, and the way in which the providers are allowed to practice. Select one of the systems addressed in this week's reading. Examine and discuss the historical events that have resulted in profound changes and/or influences to that system.
Support your position with at least one scholarly or peer-reviewed source, in addition to the textbook and this week's required/recommended readings. You may use professional Internet sources; however, these sources will not count toward the research requirement.
