Assignment 1: The career development process for public managers encompasses the various topics of strategic planning, budgeting/finance management, administrative functions, intergovernmental relations, and policy implementation. Besides the management of people and processes, career development also includes managing and resolving unexpected workplace or community events. Using the case study format below, you will examine a current or past event that has public implications. A few examples include police and community relations, quality of public utility services, and community recovery from weather-related events.

Using appropriate APA format, provide a four-page (minimum) case study analysis detailing the development, implementation, and resolution of a past or current event that has public administration implications. The title and reference pages do not count towards the three pages of writing. You are required to use at least two scholarly sources to support your work.

Your case study must include the following components:

a) title page,

b) introduction (briefly describe case highlights),

c) executive summary (consolidate scenario, principle points, and findings),

d) scenario background,

e) list key stakeholders and supporting figures/organizations,

f) analysis (identify viable options, pros and cons aspects),

g) recommendations (solution identification and justification),

h) conclusion (results and implications), and

i) references.

For your Unit VIII Final Project, you will develop a presentation that expands on your Unit VII Case Study. First, you should start by explaining the issue that was addressed in your Unit VII Case Study. Next, you will explain how e-government, e-commerce, and e-learning tools can be used to improve the issue. Finally, propose solutions to the issue using the concepts covered in the course. This is a chance for you to display your understanding of the theories and topics discussed in the course.

Your presentation must be at least 15 slides in length, not including title and reference slides. You must use at least two scholarly sources in your presentation. Be sure to cite any direct quotes or paraphrased material using APA format.
