Exactly 1.000L each of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions are standardized as follows: 0.7982g of dried potassium hydrogen phthalate is dissolved in 125mLs of water and then titrated to a phenolphthalein endpoint using 24.61mLs of the sodium hydroxide solution. A 20.00mL aliquot of the hydrochloric acid solution is then titrated to a phenolphthalein endpoint using 41.58mLs of the sodium hydroxide solution. A 1.4628g sample of a protein is treated to convert the amine content into ammonia which is collected in 50.00mLs of the hydrchloric acid solution. The excess acid is then titrated to the phenolphthalein endpoint using 13.27mLs of the sodium hydroxide solution.
A) What should be the concentration of the hydrchloric acid solution so that each mL of the acid corresponds to exactly 1mg of nitrgogen present?
