The Ebola virus has evolved a number of clever mechanisms to evade the host immune response. Explain why each of the following would be effective mechanisms for limiting the immune response to Ebola. Indicate which aspect of the immune response is affected.

a. Virus tricks host cell into secreting large quantities of a truncated and soluble version of the membrane receptor (GP) the virus uses to bind to host cells.

b. Virus infects dendritic cells and downregulates expression of B7.

c. Viral protein binds and inhibits the activity of RIG-I.

d. Downregulates expression of CCR7 on surface of dendritic cells.

e. Virus inhibits NKG2D ligand expression on surface of infected cell.
