Assignment: Report on taxonomic analysis of Carex

Task

Prepare a manuscript for publication of a scientific paper, based on the data and analyses undertaken during the Intensive School project 2 and extended by you, aimed at testing the hypotheses of new species in Carex (Cyperaceae).

Contemplate our findings-from the project data and your further analysis-in terms of the literature (i.e., published books and journal articles and select authoritative websites; you have been provided with some of the very relevant literature) and any necessary or warranted taxonomic outcomes.

Structure of your manuscript

1. Do not prepare an ‘assignment cover page' or ‘assignment title page', go straight into the manuscript as follows.

2. Use the required page layout by downloading the example manuscript for submission to Australian Systematic Botany and replace or delete content as required.

3. The document should be in:
a) New Times Roman font.
b) 12 font size. Exceptions will be few and need to be OK'd via Moodle A2 discussion forum.
c) 1.5 line spacing throughout.
d) Second and subsequent paragraphs of each section should be indented by 1 cm (ensure you can see the page ruler).

4. Prepare your own, brief and relevant title.

5. The manuscript will have the following headings
• Abstract
• Introduction
• Materials and methods
• Results and Discussion
• Acknowledgments
• References
• [and possibly: Supplementary materials].
