As nurses, we value science and evidence-based research as pillars of high-quality nursing. To maintain skills and techniques, we should commit ourselves to life-long learning. An important resource I'm able to take away from researching this topic is Sigma Theta Tau International. This organization provides up-to-date research and encourages nurses to continuously educate themselves on the most recent and accurate evidence-based practices (Catrambone, 2020). The organization makes strides to ensure that future nurses are provided with accessible information to better our practice, further our knowledge, and continue to deliver the best care we can. Nurses must understand lobbying and how to go about it in a professional manner. I enjoyed researching and listening to nurses discuss how they work with their policymakers. An important part of that collaboration is educating the public to speak up about policies that directly influence and impact their health. I've learned how important social media is in bringing awareness to the public on health issues, making information more accessible to different generations across the country.
