Question

Nurses have a duty to stay up to date on the latest evidence-based practices to deliver optimal patient care. When a Nurse Manager identifies an uptick in intravenous infiltration rates across different medication types, leading to poor outcomes, the Nurse Manager then takes proactive steps to identify current literature recommendations on how to manage these infiltration rates. From there, the Nurse Manager would disseminate these findings to the floor staff nurses. The intent of this paper is to explore the six important questions asked to gather data, identify where to gather data and sources from, and considering the four misconceptions about evidence-based practice.
