Critically analyse the accused's right to be informed of this right to legal assistance at the pre-trial stage of the investigation into the crime as well as during the trial. Also refer to relevant case law.

Mr A has various prior convictions for violence and aggravated assault. Mr A is a well-known member of the community and owns a few properties. He has two previous convictions for assault. He applies for bail. You are the presiding officer in this case. Prepare a judgement in which you address the application for bail.
