Brief description
For Assessment Task Two, you will conduct the small-scale action research project you scoped in Assessment Task One. This will allow you to further develop your action research skills by conducting your own research and interpreting your findings to improve your future practices.
The assessment requires you to conduct the action research project and write the research report - outlining the particulars of your question, purpose, the research literature, design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Details:
Your approach to this assessment will be shaped by the particular study design and methodological approach you scoped in the first task. You should draw on the studies identified in Assessment Task One, and incorporate others that you may have identified during your reading.
Criteria for assessment
- Introduction: A rationale for the action research inquiry outlining aspects of contextual information: statement of purpose, research
problem, and question.
- Literature review: Critical engagement with the quality research literature. Outlines how the literature review aligns with, supports and is appropriate for the purpose and question. The literature review is to include any relevant debates in the field related to your chosen topic.
- Methods: The action research inquiry design focuses closely on the specific approach taken to gather and interpret data, with consideration of the potential strengths and limitations. Demonstration of effective management of ethical issues and how you responded to these in the design of your study is included.
- Results/Findings and discussion. An evidence-rich, analytical, evaluative, and concise account of the action research inquiry and how tentative conclusions can be drawn. The emphasis is on the importance of self-criticality to improve your practice to support improved outcomes for learners.
- Conclusion: A summary of findings in relation to the purpose and question, evaluation of the relative strengths and limitations of the study, and reflection on the impact of the inquiry on the development of your future practices.
- Scholarly presentation: including appropriate and accurate control of academic writing genres and conventions, includes a list of references using APA 7 any appendices (not included in word count)
