A psychologist has arranged for a Cognitive assessment (IQ) to be administered with a client. The client is Xhosa speaking, the Psychologist however only owns an outdated English assessment that is not suitable for the South African context. When the client arrives the client states that she is not feeling well and that she hopes she will be able to do well in the assessment. The client also comes across as being anxious and tired from the prescribed medication that she has taken. The psychologist decides to continue with the assessment. During the assessment the builders next door makes a lot of noise and the Psychologist apologises for the noise. The client indicates that she sometimes struggles to hear the Psychologist's instructions. The Psychologist indicates that she will try and speak louder, she can unfortunately not do anything about the noise, but she wants to complete the assessment. As the client is not feeling well, she decides to choose responses in random not giving any thought to her responses as she wants to go home.
