Question

A 16-year-old male patient is admitted for evaluation and control of his intractable seizures. During the inpatient encounter, the two first days recorded the seizures per video EEG. The recordings were consistent with and documented by the physician as epileptiform discharges of right temporal lobe origin. The physician diagnosed partial complex epilepsy localized to the right temporal lobe. Dilantin and phenobarbital were prescribed and adjustments were made throughout the course of the patient's stay. He is discharged to home in satisfactory condition on day 3.
